Smoke alarm battery replacement

Some alarms use replaceable batteries, others have sealed batteries, and some belong to wired systems. We review the model and access before agreeing to a routine change. A possible fire is an emergency, not a maintenance request.

WHY HAVE IT DONE?

Follow the care requirements for your alarm.

Following the manufacturer’s battery-maintenance instructions supports readiness of a compatible alarm. A new battery does not replace an expired or faulty alarm.

What’s included

  • Agreed user-replaceable batteries on compatible household alarms.
  • Confirmation of the correct battery and who supplies it.
  • The applicable manufacturer test-button function after replacement; not a certified system inspection.

BEFORE WE ARRIVE

How to prepare

A little preparation helps us reach the agreed areas and spend the visit on the work you requested.

  • Share make/model, approximate height, and any known chirp or fault pattern.
  • Have the specified battery ready if agreed and provide room access.
  • Tell others a brief test may sound. Do not disconnect or silence alarms to prepare.

You do not need to climb, lift heavy furniture, or carry out repairs to prepare. Tell us about access difficulties when you request the quote.

Pricing & scope

Quoted by compatible alarm count, height, and access. Batteries are included only if listed.

What needs a separate discussion

Sealed units, expired or faulty alarms, electrical work, and monitored/commercial systems need appropriate assessment. This service does not certify fire-code compliance or guarantee fault resolution.

After the visit

Follow the manufacturer’s routine test and replacement instructions. Treat a failed test or continuing chirp as unresolved. For a suspected fire, leave and contact emergency services.
